Wotan Bronze AKS 59 – CuAl9Fe4Ni1
Wotan Bronze AKS 59 is a non-standardised, kneaded aluminium multi-material bronze. Its individual alloy elements are severely restricted in their tolerance ranges, which guarantees highly consistent material quality.
Wotan Bronze AKS 59 is a bronze with high strength properties and high wear resistance. It has high permanent fatigue strength, even with corrosion stress. It has good corrosion resistance against neutral and acidic media as well as seawater and good resistance to erosion, cavitation and scaling.
Aluminium bronzes with similar compositions and properties are described in our material data sheets, Looser Aluminium Bronze 75, Looser Aluminium Bronze 78 and Looser Aluminium Bronze 79.

Example uses
Wotan Bronze AKS 59 has proved its worth, in particular, in sliding elements that are exposed to high loads and subject to heavy wear due to soiling, such as worm wheels, spindle nuts, bearing bushings, shafts, structural parts for chemical plant engineering and the food industry. Scale-resistant parts.
Machinability
Machining is best performed with carbide tools at cutting speeds of 120 m/min and a low feed rate. Work with cutting fluids when drilling and thread cutting. Machinability based on CuZn39Pb3 (Ms58Pb) is approximately 20%.
Wotan Bronze AKS 59 is well suited for forging (temperature range 780-900°C). The annealing temperature range lies between 650-850°C; stress relief heat treatment takes place at 300-400°C. The melting point is 1040-1060°C.
Wotan Bronze AKS 59 is well suited for protective gas and electrical resistance welding. Not suitable for soft or hard soldering or for autogenous welding.
Sliding partners
Suitable mating materials are hardened steels or those which have a tensile strength of at least 800 N/mm2. The sliding surfaces should be finely machined. Good lubrication is required.
