REACH
Ladies and gentlemen
As a specialist for bronze and copper alloys, Walter Looser AG also comes within the purview of REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) betroffen.
REACH is a regulation of the European Union that was adopted in June 2007 to protect human health and the environment from potential hazards posed by chemicals.
In accordance with Article 33 of the REACH Regulation, we are hereby informing you that semi-finished products and finished parts supplied by us contain an SVHC substance (Substances of Very High Concern) on the REACH candidate list, namely lead.
Name of the substance: Lead (Pb)
CAS-No.: 7439-92-1
EINECS: 231-100-4
Registration date: 27.06.2018
The following products from our range contain lead with a content of more than 0.1%:
Looser in-house designation | Standard | Number | Lead content |

The use of lead in non-ferrous metal semi-finished products has been subject to regulation for many years. The obligation to inform under REACH is not based on new scientific knowledge.
At present, lead remains an important alloying element for copper alloys. Materials containing lead are tried and tested alloy systems that offer a number of technological advantages. These include the fact that lead increases the anti-friction and anti-galling properties, while also improving the machinability and corrosion resistance of the finished component.
We can offer a whole range of alternative products from our product portfolio which have a lead content below the permitted limit.
We will be more than pleased to advise you.
Best regards
Walter Looser AG
